With nearly $2.6 billion being spent on Halloween candy in 2019, there is bound to be an abundance of leftover treats. Once sorting is complete by your trick-or-treaters this year, consider donating candy that remains rather than throwing it in the trash.
Here are three options for your leftover Halloween candy this year:
Operation Gratitude
The Halloween Candy Give-Back Program has been connecting communities with Military and First Responder Heroes each fall since 2007. While Halloween may look a little different this year, Operation Gratitude and their incredible volunteers are committed to continuing to give back in meaningful ways.
Soldiers’ Angels Treats For Troops Program
Soldiers’ Angels Treats for Troops is a Halloween Candy collection program where local businesses accept excess Halloween candy from kids in exchange for goodies. Perfect for your small business to participate!
- Businesses (dentist offices, grocery stores, etc.) collect excess candy and ship it to troops overseas. Participating businesses are asked to offer something in exchange for the candy (common example: dentist gives the kids a toothbrush for candy donation)
Operation Shoebox
Operation Shoebox embraces a practical mission of providing hands-on support for our troops deployed overseas and returning home. This includes candy and financial donations.
- Individuals can ship candy directly to the organization to be shipped overseas.
- We recommend reusing a box to ship your candy.
